Creating an Urban Wetland Ecosystem: A Case Study of Shanghai Disney Resort Wishing Star Park

Creating an Urban Wetland Ecosystem: A Case Study of Shanghai Disney Resort Wishing Star Park
Shanghai Disney Resort’s design and construction rest on a foundation of sustainability and conservation. A prime example is Wishing Star Park, a 500,000-square-meter urban wetland located inside Shanghai Disney Resort. In April 2026, Shanghai Disney Resort and Disney Conservation jointly released Creating an Urban Wetland Ecosystem: A Case Study of Shanghai Disney Resort Wishing Star Park. Building on a decade of monthly bird surveys and learnings from the urban biodiversity development at Wishing Star Park, the Report provides a case study of how an urban wetland project can be designed and managed to enrich the lives of both wildlife and people. Wishing Star Park Nature Book

Wishing Star Park Nature Book
Shanghai Disney Resort has collaborated with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) China to create a nature book that celebrates the resort’s own, Wishing Star Park. This self-guided nature-walk book aims to help children, teens and their families explore and learn about the park’s rich natural resources and diverse habitats, as well as develop lifelong conservation values. Adopt-A-Garden

Adopt-A-Garden
Shanghai Disney Resort has been partnering with Shanghai Roots and Shoots, a local non-profit organization, with an “Adopt-A-Garden” organic farming program at local schools since 2012. Through the organic farming program, local school students not only can get hands-on experience planting vegetables in the schools’ very own gardens, but also can learn about environment protection initiatives, the important of nature and food safety.
Earth Day Celebration
